Privacy policy

Effective August 4, 2026. Apple Browser AI is an independent, open-source browser extension. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc.

Apple Browser AI does not collect analytics, create user accounts, sell data, or send webpage content to the developer or any remote service operated by the developer.

Data the extension handles

• Current webpage text: when you request a summary, Apple Browser AI reads up to 15,000 characters from the active tab and sends it through Chrome Native Messaging to the helper installed on your Mac. The helper summarizes it locally with Apple Intelligence.
• Preferences: popup width and continuous-summary settings are stored locally in your browser.

Page text is processed for the requested summary and is not retained by Apple Browser AI. Preferences remain on your device until you remove the extension or clear its storage.

Permissions

• activeTab and scripting read text from the page you choose to summarize.
• nativeMessaging communicates with the local macOS helper.
• storage saves local preferences.
• sidePanel displays summaries beside the webpage.

Third parties

Apple Browser AI does not disclose user data to third parties. Apple Intelligence and the macOS Foundation Models framework perform summarization on the user's compatible Mac, subject to Apple's platform terms.
